Meals on location are usually taken outside- but today we were in a school room in the township of Tembisa (some four million people live there.) Our team found a very rough section there which doubled for a refugee camp in Malawi circa 1990. We met many of the students who attend class in too-small shoes and outgrown uniforms, with shredded shirt collars and patched trousers. Watch for a newly acquired fairy god child Nellie, at the end of this video- she wants to go to NYU to learn how to tell important stories from South Africa. Anyone want to help the kids with their uniforms- or Nellie come to America?
